Pollen: a flying superfood
When we think of beekeeping, honey comes to mind first, then maybe propolis or royal jelly. Pollen, instead, is often forgotten — and that's a shame, because it's one of the most nutritionally complete beehive products.
Bees collect it from flowers and knead it into small balls they bring back to the colony, where it becomes the main source of proteins, amino acids and B vitamins for larvae and nurse bees. A pollen ball contains on average 25% protein, 18 essential amino acids, vitamins A, C, D, E, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12, and traces of zinc, iron, magnesium.
Pollen on the skin
It's not just a supervitamin for those who take it orally — it has effects when applied externally too. Cosmetic studies show that pollen extracts:
- Revitalise tired or stressed skin thanks to the vitamin complex.
- Protect from free radicals thanks to natural antioxidants (flavonoids, carotenoids).
- Strengthen the skin barrier providing essential amino acids.
The "Mielata Formula"
Our Shower Gel combines organic orange blossom honey (emollient, humectant) with pollen (toning, revitalising) and a touch of propolis extract (natural antiseptic). The name "Mielata" doesn't refer to honeydew honey — it's a neologism created by Melauro to indicate this synergistic formulation of beehive products.
The surfactants are the same as the Shampoo: coconut-derived, gentle, non-aggressive. Suitable therefore also for delicate skin of children and infants.
Bath or shower?
Works well in both, but expresses its best in bath tub. Add a dosing cap to warm running water: the heat releases the honey scent, the gentle emulsion doesn't sting eyes. A 20-minute bath — especially in winter — and skin emerges visibly softer.

One of its strengths is safety. Formulation without SLS/SLES, without alcohol, without colourings, without synthetic fragrances. Compatible with baby skin (recommended from 6 months).
